Sitting here in Wales, land of three million sheep (and counting) I
couldn’t stop myself from adding a tiny point of clarification to
Hugh’s fabulous beef Shepherd’s Pie….you can probably guess where I’m
going with this one.
(thanks to JulesAngel at Flickr)
Though commonly called Shepherd’s pie around the world, the traditional British version (complete with pallid frozen peas) features minced lamb as its main ingredient. The beef variation I know as Cottage Pie – though it may well be used to describe other meat-based pies as well.
Little Bo Peep lost her sheep – I can only imagine how she’d have coped with a herd of cows…….
