My wife and I favor a warm weather aperitif of cheap white wine (usually a light Spanish white like Rueda or a white Rioja) and a splash of campari on the rocks. The rosy color and clinking ice has inspired requests for the same from our kids. Of course we’re not indulging that, but a bit of grenadine and water on ice in plastic cup comes close. A happy hour indeed. And if anyone has seen grenadine packaged in a bottle adorned with Babar and Celeste let me know. I had an awesome-looking bottle of that description in NY a decade or so back when I didn’t have use for virgin cocktail ingredients. Let me know if you’ve seen such around. I could actuallly use it now.
