It really couldn’t be much easier: buy some cleaned squid at a fishmonger or a good supermarket (like Whole Foods). Slice squid it into thin little circles, and simmer it in your favorite marinara until tender, about 7 minutes. If you don’t have a favorite marinara, try this: in a medium sized sauce pan, heat 3 tablespoons olive oil, 2 chopped garlic cloves and cook until fragrant. Add one can of San Marzano or other high quality plum tomatoes. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of salt. Puree in a blender until just about smooth. That’s that. The fava bean crostini recipe is below. 7 year old Violet loves this dish. 4 year old Desmond likes to dip strips of toasted rustic white in the marinara, squid removed.
