You may have noticed that it's been a little quiet around Gastrokid HQ this past week. Part of the reason is that I've been undertaking my annual week without food detox diet courtesy of Madal Bal and a whole load of lemons.
Each year I do this I discover something new about my relationship to food and fine wine.
This year, as last, my love of fine fine is undiminished! However just as happened last year with dairy, so this year I've decided that, going forward, I'm going to cut back radically my intake of caffeine. That may involve removing caffeine completely from my diet or maybe just enjoying a single cup of espresso a day.
One other food that this last week has taught me I don't really miss is red meat. Starting to eat again I'm really listening to what my body tells me about different foods I'm consuming. The whole experience has been a bit like retuning a car to make it run smoother and better. And in my case that means less of the heavy, clogging red stuff!
Bacon, however, I'm glad to inform you remains the food of the gods.
